Wilburn: The Case for D. Alexander Ward

We wanted to share the comments made recently about one of our Shadows Over Main Street editors, which were posted by writer/blogger Jay Wilburn.

The blog post, titled “The Case for D. Alexander Ward,” can be accessed by clicking here.

We couldn’t agree more that our two Shadows editors, Messrs. Ward and Murano, have “broke[n] new ground with the quality and scope of their projects.”

Rue Morgue Reviews Blue Eel

The August 2016 issue of print horror magazine Rue Morgue (Issue #169) has just hit newsstands, and it has a review of Blue Eel!

Here’s an excerpt:

“Lorne Dixon’s Blue Eel is an engaging and offbeat mixture of police procedural, eldritch mysticism and monster story wrapped up in a tale of redemption.”

Sounds great to us!

Remember, Blue Eel is available in hardcover, paperback and Kindle editions.

The Horror Library will rise again!

Attention horror fans of all ages:

Cutting Block Books is excited to announce that we have re-acquired all rights to the Bram Stoker Award® nominated Horror Library anthology!

Like a hockey-masked psychopath in a horror film, the Library refuses to stay down.  We are making plans to continue the series, from Volume 6 and beyond, with a brand-new editor and renewed excitement for the horror anthology that has been helping to introduce new, talented writers to horror fans since 2006.

We’re still in the earliest phases of planning for the continuation of the series, so don’t expect a new volume until late 2017, at the earliest — but watch this space, and we’ll update you as things progress.

The Library lives!  Long live the Library!

Joyce Carol Oates in the land of Shadows!

As we announced in December, Cutting Block Books will be releasing Shadows Over Main Street, Volume 2 this fall.

Now we can announce that best-selling author Joyce Carol Oates has joined our list of authors!

We’re crazy-excited to bring you her dark and unsettling short story, “The Omen.”  She joins a growing table of contents that includes William Meikle and Lucy A. Snyder, along with others soon to be announced.

About Joyce Carol Oates:

Joyce Carol Oates is a recipient of the National Book Award and the PEN/Malamud Award for Excellence in Short Fiction. She is the author of the national bestsellers We Were the Mulvaneys, Blonde and The Accursed. She is a recipient of the President’s Medal for the Humanities and is the Roger S. Berlind Distinguished Professor of the Humanities at Princeton University and has been a member of the American Academy of Arts and Letters since 1978. Her most recent book is The Man Without A Shadow.

Pre-Order Slice #2 !!

Our second Single Slice is now available for pre-order here.

The story is “Florie Detail,” written by Jason A. Wyckoff.  Jason’s first published work was the short story collection Black Horse and other Strange Stories (Tartarus Press 2012). He also contributed to two anthologies from Tartarus Press, Dark World (2013) and Strange Tales IV (2014), and to the anthology Horror: The Odd and the Bizarre (2015) from Sirens Call Publications.

Despite his being a relatively new author, we think Jason has an awesome future in horror! We at Cutting Block are thrilled to introduce him to our readers, and we hope to hear from him often.

And remember:  each Single Slice is ONLY 99 cents!
